I’m Lisa and welcome to Cabin in the City. It’s a pleasure to have you here.

In the cabin kitchen.

A little story about this space and its name: More than 10 years ago, I purchased my home, a house that belonged to my amazing and swanky great-aunt. The thing about this home is that it’s peculiar, to say the least: set up sideways on its lot, cedar siding inside and out, an indoor rock garden, wallpapered tree mural.

In all the years I spent running around this house, I never really thought of it as being anything but extraordinarily and exquisitely bizarre – that is until friends, neighbors, contractors and the like began coming inside and all of them, every last one of them, had the same remark: this reminds me of a cabin. And as soon as it was uttered, I realized that I was sitting in a cabin in the middle of Milwaukee. And here we are: Cabin in the City.

Today, I live in this delightful home with my spouse, our child and black cat. I spend much of my free time with family, reading or tackling many, many craft projects. I even sell my embroidery under the name Kaminski Handicraft at local markets and via Instagram.

By and large, this is a blog for me and a way for me to keep up with writing now that I’m no longer a full-time editor. But whatever has brought you here, be it my moon muffin recipe or award-winning cream cheese pillow cookies or thoughts on BBC’s The Repair Shop, know that I’m happy to have you!
